It may be good for undergrad, I don't know, I didn't do undergrad at the school, but it is horrendous for graduate school. At orientation, which was the day before classes started, I was showing other students how to access their email because the school doesn't notify you that you have one or how to access it even though professors were emailing out assignments to be completed before the first day.

Depending on your program you'll be told you get "electives" but they offer so few classes you have no choice but to take whatever there is, even if you choose a certain track to avoid specific classes you don't want to take. Just know you'll be taking those classes. They may even cancel classes that are required for you to graduate.

The name of this University carries some weight with prestige. Academics are fairly decent if not competitive with other colleges in the area. Strong in faith formation and community service. There is a decent amount of faculty/professors that care about their students and are actually good at the job that they do. I have had a rather negative experience with the university unfortunately. I will share this with you now so that you know that the Public Safety and Student Conduct Offices are less than par in performing their duties, and are shoddy overall.

If you know that you're going to have people going upstairs tell the people which floor you're going to so that people have the option to use the stairs or elevators.

I was not given a fair trial at St. John’s University and am thoroughly disappointed. A University that prides itself on Catholic Values has failed to deliver on their mission statement several times.

Being a Catholic school, you'd think they'd be more outgoing but they're just like Fordham. They don't give a damn and want your money.

They're still disorganized. They were disorganized upon visiting and after being accepted.

When I took my daughter to orientation at Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia, they had a bunch of students at the parking garage and they offered to help take Marché's stuff for her to the dorm where she stayed.

The school had all of this setup before we even got there.

They shut down Reading Terminal for every orientation session.

I know when we came here my daughter was turned off. She shadowed a student in a physics class and the professor was talking to himself. The students were using social media and streaming music and movies.

You're even worse for wear if you're unable to get an assistantship because they offer no scholarships for the majority of the programs and 99% of campus jobs require the student to qualify for work study, and even the jobs that regular students can apply for work study students can also apply for.

Great Weight Watchers program, run by a great motivator, Jeanette. If you work the program, it works. Good meetings with good people.

If you're considering St. John's, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. You'll thank me later unless you want to be at a disheveled, unorganized place.

After receiving collectively maybe two hours of sleep I went to the public safety to file a report. The officers I met with said I was guilty of stealing and damaging the property of my former roommate. No matter what I told them they refused to believe me. I was coerced into a false confession with no proof at all to incriminate me. My meeting with the Student Conduct Officer was no better. I had the same hard time convincing them of the fact I was a victim and assaulted verbally by my roommates and caught in the middle of something.

They're just standing around.

Communication between the school and students is very poor, they expect their students to get their information about events and school closures through their social media pages. Pages on their website haven't been updated in years or have incorrect/incomplete information. They also like to wait as long as possible to give information which if you have students who have to buy plane tickets is extremely inconvenient, and if you try and call to get the information sooner they give you the wrong information, which again, when you have to buy a plane ticket is extremely inconvenient.

The apartments for graduate students are basically dorms with a kitchen, you have to share a room and half the time the bedrooms are so small you have no choice but to keep the beds bunked. You can pay extra to get a single but then you're still living with other people and sharing a bathroom. Facilities has to constantly be called for repairs. The internet in the apartments is even worse than it is on campus.

Great place to go to school, we have so many great majors, course and professors. The services around the school is very poor in my opinion I have never had a easy or pleasant time with anyone who works for the school. Much of the schools workers are very unwelcoming and extremely unhelpful, after three years I can say I have only come in contact with less then a handful of helpful people at this establishment. Other then that the professors are excellent, the courses are great and diverse, the opportunities are endless, the campus is fantastic for a city kind of feel. Although the campus, especially the student guides, often exaggerate aspects of the school itself. I do not regret my experiences here or my education but I would advise all to keep other schools in mind before deciding here.

It was my freshman year. I had just gone to bed; it was around ten thirty. Perhaps about a half hour later one of my roommates entered the room and woke me. I could tell he was drunk. He accused me of stealing his belongings, damaging his property, and anything for that matter that went wrong with his life. He left the room and took his mattress with him. Residence staff and Public Safety arrived at my room to see if everything was alright. They kept asking me if I was going to kill myself. Still never figured out why they asked that. One of the officers gave me his card. After they left I returned to bed. My other roommate, who was also drunk, returned to the room, and told me that he never wanted to see me and threw me out of the room. I called the officer’s number on the card. I told him what just transpired. He responded that there was nothing that he could do. I then spent a portion of the night uncomfortably on a University Park bench. A friend who was returning from a midnight run – around 1:30 AM – found me and took me to her room. She happened to have a spare bed.

Mind you, she had already gotten in the school and was trying to decide if she wanted to come here.

Don't just say follow me we're going upstairs and there's the elevator. I guess the magic crystal ball will tell you where to go.

They even had two subway cars designated just for them to ride to Center City.

The school, despite being called a university, doesn't have an actual library (besides the law library, which unless you're a law student you can't even use) There's two floors of a building that's considered a library but is really just two floors of a building of several other thing that has some books and a librarian. They also have way less books and articles available than other schools, including schools that are a fraction of the size. They claim budget cuts for the lack of a library.

You'd think that it would be different once you make a commitment.

You'd think they'd be friendly and nice.

They're not friendly or helpful at all.

The security guard at the booth told us where to go.

They sent an email telling you to go once place and when you get here it's somewhere totally different.

Then they have people standing that's supposed to guide you where you should be going. Those are students.

Overall, don't go here. It's probably great if you're a student athlete though since all they really care about is sports and getting as much money as they can from their students.

I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
