Many know Louis Armstrong as the musician who influenced jazz musicians all over the world. Few know of his incredible intellect and as a diarist who kept notes on everything he did, heard or saw.

An extremely valuable gem hidden in Queens that even I didn't know of until a few years ago, despite having driven past it and living a few 7 Train stops away. From the exterior, it looks just like any other home in the neighborhood, but unbeknownst to the unaware, a musical legend once called it home. Inside is 2 floors of everything that represented Louis Armstrong and his family, from his personal recording room, to the large portrait of his wife in the living room. However, despite the many features of this home, there is an essence of coziness and welcoming, as if the Armstrongs are your own neighbors. The tour guide can play authentic recordings of Armstrong throughout the house, which might be a little hard to interpret the words, but no one can doubt the distinct nature of his voice. Highly recommend to anyone, especially history buffs, music fans, and those wanting to play tourist in their own city!

A Cat who dug it!
