Overall review: Staff:5.0, Casino 3.0
Patrons keep the bathrooms very dirty.
People snick their beers, liquors inside the place Aqueduct's staff having a hard time keeping up with them, littering, people eating peanuts and drop the shells on the floors.
In summary my overall impression is that the staff in the casino and food areas are all very nice, saying and doing all the right things. Obviously there has been extensive training in this area, or New Yorkers just get it right (no surprise there). The casino area is nothing special but there is an ample supply of games to satisfy one's gambling desires..
My impressions of the racetrack and slot area are mixed. First of all, the prices for some items are outrageously high. $4.50 for a bagel or a bottle of water is robbery. The food court provided adequate choices, but nothing in the "really healthy" category, which I always choose. Of course my tastes are quite discriminating,. so it's probably not a fair review for most folks. I'm sure their gourmet restaurant(s) are quite nice.
One thing that impressed me the most was the friendliness and the efficiency of the cashier personnel. In particular a gentleman named Arthur was extremely quick, and cordial in his duties. Others at the cage were also nice and well schooled, however, he as truly exceptional.
I had so much fun here. It's fun to bet on the horses, win a lot of $$ and if don't know anything about it, just ask the friendly staff. They are happy to explain!
The overall ambiance of the place is like a ware house filled with slots and video games. There is nothing special about the casino area at all. The lack of cocktail service was quite apparent to me, as I went several hours playing in the upstairs area without seeing a waitress. Granted, my review has nothing to do with my gambling result, as I was fortunate to have a winning day!
If it wasnt for the casino, they would have used that money to maintain the place ro make it look more fine and how it was years ago. Now they might take down the barns in aqueduct to build shops for the casino but the track will still be there. That can be a good thing but then for the people who work there like me are gonna need to go someplace different like Belmont.
