When I got to Boston, I see that there are tons of cars available in the Emerald Aisle so I decide to stay loyal and go with National. My rate with Hertz was $70 a day, National was $100 more! Should have stayed with Hertz, I’ll certainly shop from now on.
It was good. Provided the rental we needed. Staff worked hard even though at the time we where in the the computer system was down.
Staff is friendly and helpful. When I got into the car and drove to the kiosk I realized that the tank was not full. The person checking me out gave me a credit. I always prefer to rent with national instead of Hertz. Staff is friendly and approachable.
I’m a very loyal fan of national, but this last trip made me reconsider. I’m an Emerald Aisle user, but always make a reservation in advance to make sure I have a car. According to the website, there were no cars available at Boston Logan so I had to make a reservation with another carrier.
Rental was great... getting there, not so much. Things at Laguardia are a mess right now because of construction. That being said, it was not clear AT ALL how one was supposed to get to the National location. Fortunately, a member of our party was in a wheelchair, and the attendant knew what to do. Changing buses in the middle of our journey to get to the rental office was not optimal for our handicapped member, as we were forced to stand on the sidewalk and wait for the second bus for over 5 minutes. This isn't terrible for an able-bodied person, but for someone who can't stand for more than a minute or two, it was difficult. When we rented the car we received information from National telling us that airport transportation would be changing as of 11/17, but even though we were there the first week of November, the new "system" was already in place. This left us unprepared for the situation. I'm still giving a 4-star review because everything else about the rental went well, but better communication, better signage, and considerations for those with disabilities (benches for waiting, an enclosed waiting area for inclement weather, etc.) should be considered.
The agents and service at the LGA location is excellent. I would have given them 5 stars, however, pickup was absolutely atrocious. After getting off the airplane there was NO signage informing us where to go to get to our rental car. Once we were able to out how, we had to get on a bus to the marine terminal only to get on another shuttle to National. It took just short of an hour to pick up the car and we're emerald aisle.
Would not be opposed to using this place again.
The rental itself was very nice, and clean when presented. The wife and I didn't want to turn it in.
